Cookies! The Kitchen Sink, The Boys "Fixing" the Kitchen Sink, The Girls in Our Dresses :)

sunday

Sunday I slept in J Then I coordinated everyone to do dishes because with our kitchen sink broken it was quite a task. We took the dishes outside in buckets and had to wash them like we do when we go camping. There were ants all over our kitchen… gross! That took up most of the morning- hopefully our sink is fixed soon. It rained and my laundry got all wet so I had to rewash it so it didn’t start to smell gross. Then we sat around and read books/homework until around 4:30 when we left to go see a soccer game. There is really nothing to do on Sundays because EVERYONE is in church! Most people can count on one hand the times that they have missed church in their life. So yeah anyways we hopped on trotros to Accra. We listened to the soccer game on the radio on the way to Accra but didn’t know it lol… the mate on the trotro got off while the trotro was still moving and did a dance when the winning team was announced (we still did not know what was going on). When we got off the trotro and walked to the stadium being passed by throngs of people going in the opposite direction as us we finally started to realize that the soccer game was just getting over. Apparently they play on Wednesdays at 6 and Sundays a 4… so yeah we will have to catch a game another time. We figured that while we were in town anyway we mine as well do something so we decided to go somewhere for dinner. In the travel book one of the people read about this hotel restaurant that sounded pretty good so we decided to go there. We ate outside and listened to music- it was beautiful. The food was amazing as well! I had twice baked potatoes with cheese OMG so tasty! I miss American food I’m really sick of rice lol! By the time we got back home it was pretty late and we all had full bellies so most of us settled in and went to bed because we had to get up early for our internships in the morning. Also I forgot to mention that everyone that we met on our little downtown adventure was really nice and really helpful. When we had lost looks on our faces people would ask us if we needed help finding somewhere and then they would drop what they were doing and take us to where we needed to go to make sure that we got there it so nice! For example when we were trying to get home we were at a trotro station and there were just like 50 trotros waiting for everyone to pack up the markets and leave town to go home for the night and we couldn’t find one to Okpongalow (our junction) so this guy helped us and led us right to where we needed to be it was so amazing that everyone is so helpful! And we get to practice our Twi and all of the locals try to help us learn the language its so fun! Its really refreshing that most people help one another and expect nothing in return. I love it, it makes me smile :)

Saturday

Saturday we didn’t really do much of anything, I slept during the day because I stayed up most of the night reading and trying not to swallow small animals lol. There is a funeral party going on outside which played really loud music starting at 5am this morning. Funerals are really big celebrations here that last for days and days. My roommate went to a funeral and said it was a crazy experience. They set up the dead guy in a chair and made him look like he was alive and left him in the hot son so it smelled like rotting flesh and she almost lost it a couple of times. But the dancing ceremonies were amazing and we got to watch videos of the rituals minus the smell when she got home which was really interesting. Anyway… we ventured to the campus and went to the night market and looked around at all the stuff there. I got some more starfruit because its super tasty! And I also got some more bread and ground nut since I basically live off of that for breakfast everyday. We discovered a store on campus that sells frozen milk which is like the ghanian version of icecream. Thank goodness the campus is pretty far away because its really addicting and I’m pretty sure if it was for sale right outside our house I would eat it every day lol. Then we tried to find an ATM because a few of us were running low on money. It took quite a while and was a pretty far walk but we finally found one outside of a gas station up the road from the campus. I also decided to do some laundry when we got home… we fill up buckets with soap and water and swish our clothes around in them and rinse them out then hang them up to dry basically lol. It takes a really long time though and it doesn’t seem to really clean them and they always turn out really wrinkly lol but we do our best J Saturday night we were all together and started looking at a Ghana travel guide book that someone had brought. We’ve planned a trip to Mole National Park which is a safari thing with a bunch of elephants and lions and giraffes and we just pay for a tour guide (that carries a big gun lol) and we get to walk around with all the animals I cant wait!

Friday

Friday was quite an adventure. I woke up feeling better but still not 100%. I went to the Aya Center to finish my paper, and then went back home to do my readings for class. Some people had to go to their internships today so the others waited for them to get home to figure out what we were going to do tonight. A few of them decided that they were going to go out on the town but I still wasn't feeling the best so I decided to stay home. But I was bored out of my mind from being at home for the past couple of days trying to get over my cold.. so I decided that I was going to attempt to make sugar cookies. Another girl said that she'd rather bake then go out so we went to the Aya Center and googled some recipes before it closed for the weekend. Then we walked to the campus night market to try and find everything that we needed. We stopped at every stand looking for all of the ingredients. We had to buy flour from three different stands because apparently its really rare? We ended up finding almost everything except for vanilla and baking soda... but we found baking powder so we just improvised. We also tried to make powdered sugar with this wooden bowl and pounder thingy that we have for spices but that didn’t work either lol :( We dont have any measuring cups, we dont have a big mixing bowl and the oven has high medium and low settings (not temperatures)... so it was quite challenging! We also found a recipe for peanut butter frosting so we made that up to mask the taste of the cookies if they were bad lol! The cookies ended up turning out quite nicely. They looked and tasted more like a pastry/muffin top ish thing...? but with the frosting and everything they were really good and everyone loved them!!! Other interesting things that I tried today included starfruit which is the best fruit I have ever tasted! I also ate a green orange which was interesting and tasted like a regular orange, and I tried rice with butter and sugar which actually is my new favorite food ever! After the cookies were done the lady came with our dresses and we all tried them on and looked at some more of her fabrics and designs. Other interesting things that occured today. We found an alive cockroach under the drying rack for our dishes. I saw a ghecko in my room and now can't find it anywhere and also a cocoon like thing hatched in my bathroom and wormy larva came out of it... so basically I'm freaking out and I couldn’t sleep because my nose was stuffed so I had to breathe with my mouth open and I'm scared of gecko cockroach worms being in or around my mouth... so yeah pretty interesting and exhausting but no sleep for me thank you very much lol!

Thursday I Got a Phone! YAY!

A lot of us have been trying to get phones since day 1. There is a little place on our road that sells cell phones and he told us that he would have some on Thursday by noon. Well noon came around and he was nowhere to be found so we went to internship class which is only an hour long and we get to talk about what we are doing at all of our different internships so that should be fun! After class we went back to check at the phone place and he had one... which didn't come in a box so it was used for sure... and he was deleting all of the old contact information so I'm pretty sure he stole it lol? And he wanted $50 for it... even though the brand new ones at the mall with the charger and everything were only $45. So now we have a new saying- if it seems shady... it is shady lol. Anyway so we walked to the Tigo store and got a sim card it was only 1 cedi. Then we filled them with minutes. Of course they dont sell phones at the Tigo store that would make life to simple. So we got on a trotro heading towards the mall and we all got phones there! I'm so excited to have a phone. I feel much safer! After that whole ordeal we went home and I took some benedryl and went to sleep because it took everything out of me lol. I felt much better in the morning but still not 100% I'm finishing my paper so that I can have a ton of fun this weekend and not have to worry about ti lol. But I do have a lot of reading for my other classes so hopefully I can finish it today!!! I also found out why the trotros are called trotros which I think is interesting and wanted to share lol. When the British ruled and their currency was in use it cost two threepences (tro) to ride them - so came the name trotro or two threepences. :) There is your awesome trivia fact of the day! My goal this weekend is to make sugar cookies so wish me luck! I dont know if I will be able to write this weekend since I wont have much access to the internet but I'll try :) I miss everyone so much and thank you to everyone that comments on my blog I love it!

Wed- not much to report

Wednesday we started classes. The first one is called Ghana Today and its about the history of Ghana and how that impacted the people/economy/language of Ghana. The teacher seems smart but is really slow paced. Its not like school in the states thats for sure. Out other class is about the sociology aspect of the people in Ghana. Dr. Williams teaches it- yesterday was more like a review so I hope that the next class is more intersting lol. In between classes I took a nap because I seem to have come down with a cold/flu... in 80 degree weather even! But I'm taking medicine and no worries I should be fine soon :) After class we made homeade spaghetti sauce which turned out really well surprisingly and I made some garlic bread that everyone loved so we all had a great meal together which was really nice. It took a really long time to cook so it was pretty late after we got done. My full belly made me sleepy so I went to bed lol.

Tuesday- and other thoughts

We had our final Twi lesson today- our exam is a month from now so we have some time to practice with the locals lol. After our Twi lesson a few of us tried to buy phones so we all went to a Tigo store which is one of the service providers. The store only sold sim cards and minutes and it was more of a customer service place sadly. I guess I need to find a place to buy a phone first then go back to the store so they can make it work?? On the walk back home we found a fruit and vegetable stand and we got everything to make spaghetti sauce and I bought noodles when we first got here so Im SOOOO excited for dinner tomorrow! I worked on my internship paper for a bit and then went to bed because classes started the next morning. All in all not a very productive day but its nice every once in a while.

**Everything is so go with the flow here its really nice... schedules arent set in stone and I never know what day or time it is lol! I never really need to wake up to an alarm. It gets dark here at like 6PM which really messes with my internal clock lol and the mosquitos come out super early... but its sunny at about 5am so we all tend to go to bed pretty early and wake up early which is pretty nice.
**Its been pretty rainy for the past couple of days so its been muggy but that should only last for a couple more weeks before the unbearable heat sets in.
**Im so sick of drinking water I couldnt take it anymore and finally broke down and bought some pineapple juice lol.
**I'm beginning to really like the spice curry- they put it in everything here!
**The staff at the Aya center got us a microwave and a blender so that we can blend spices and warm stuff up which is really nice.

The Parade Grounds, Castle on the Ocean, Village Scene, and Me on the First Day of my Internship

Monday

We all woke up at 6 to get ready for our first day at our internships. Gifty, a person from the Aya Center took me to mine. We took a trotro to Medina Market and then got off at Atomic Junction. Then we got on another trotro to Demo St. Johns and took that all the way to my internship at Streetwise. All together it took about an hour and a half to get there which is kind of a drag... When we got there I met my boss and a few other people in the office. Abbe explained to me that Streetwise is a program to get women and children off of the streets so that they dont go into the sex trade for money. They educate them and give them skills like cooking and sewing and computer/reading skills. I have to write a paper for Monday which is my first day on the job. They want me to research STDs in Ghana and the problems/solutions in dealing with them. The other part of my job is that Im going to be a teaching assistant at an elementary school and I'm going to organize reading clubs/programs for the kids. I'm so excited I can hardly wait! After we got back from our internship we had our 2nd to last Twi lesson and learned how to bargain in Twi so that people dont think we are sooo foreign and they are more willing to lower the price because since we are speaking their language they think we will know that they are trying to cheat us out of our money. After Twi a few of us hopped a trotro to go explore downtown and we walked around a few stores and ate at a really nice restuarunt. It was really touristy but still a lot of fun! Then we all headed home for the night. Then I worked for a little on my research because I want my paper to be amazing lol!

Pictures: The Ocean, A Trotro, Medina Market, Open Gutters that are EVERYWHERE!, and The Palm Trees In our Yard :)

Pictures of my bedroom, the kitchen, the dining room and the living room

Sunday

Today was the first day that we had off and all to ourselves. We all woke up and got ready to venture to the mall as a group. We rode the trotro without a chaperone for the first time and made it in one peice and didnt get lost! YAY US! The mall was ful of Obrunis, all foreigners. We looked at a couple of stores but everything was really expensive. There were some clothing stores, jewelry stores, electronics stores and even a movie theater (we might go see Up lol). We also bought a few things in the Shoprite but it was also really expensive. It was the first grocery store ive been in since weve gotten here... we always get our food from the market and I can see why- the prices were really really high. I've been craving chocolate like no other so I split a twix bar with someone but sadly it tasted very different from the cocolate in America... so Im still craving it lol. Everyone ate in the food court at a place called Chicken Inn. Thankfully I did not because they all said the food was gross as I watched people pick bones out of their mouth from their chicken sandwhiches on a bun- low standards even for a fast food place :( We took the trotros home with no problem and a few of us decided to walk to the internet cafe by our house. Its not a far walk and its only 1 cedi an hour but the internet is really SLLLLLOOOOOOWWWWWW! Still better than no internet at all I guess. We can only use the internet at the school from 8-4:30 M-F. We went back home and reheated some leftovers and settled in to write about our weekend in Twi which was our first homework asignment.

Saturday

In the morning we woke to prepare and cook the traditional Ghanian dishes with the cook that the Aya Center set up to come teach us. We made a seperate vegetarian dish for me which tasted amazing! The other dishes had a ton of fish in them... like the whole fish. People ate fish tails and fish heads and fish eyes it was really gross, and they all had to pull the bones out of their moh while we were eating... it was quite an experience lol. Everyone really liked the food though lol? It took three hours to prepare and cook the dishes that we made but it was so worth it. Before we even had time for our food to settle we left for the beach in a cab. We went to Pleasure Beach which is bueatiful! I actually swam in the ocean and felt the rip tide and rode the waves and tasted salt water (on accident lol). I can't wait to go back the water was so nice! After about 5-6 hours we all went back to the house to chill before we settled in for the night.

Thursday night and Friday

Last night we walked to the night market. I bought some apples and ground nut (organic homeade peanut butter). When we returned home there was a seamstress at our haouse waiting for us. The teachers from the Aya Center set her up to come over and measure us and we got to pick out the design of our dresses and fabrics it was so much fun! I picked out a pink and gold fabric and for only 10 cedis which is like 7.50$ they will be done in a week! I also bought a bad that she made because the money belt that I brought does no work well and I needed something to carry around my camera in. The next morning we had a Twi lesson and then we went to Medina Market to learn how to bargain and to buy stuff for the cook that was coming over on Saturday to teach us how to make Ghanian dishes. We split into groups and each group had to have a male because while the women shop and bargain the men carry everything they buy lol :) On our list we had to buy some little peppers, some tomoatoes, some smoked salmon and fresh red snapper. Buying the fish was so gro, the smell was horrible and there were flies everywhere! PUKE IN MY MOUTH! They scaled the fish right in front of us and I got some scales on me... I dont ever want to buy meat again lol. It started pouring rain so we all hopped in a cab and headed home. We all sat around and played cards and waited for the dinner that we had at 7. We all got dressed up and hoppe cabs to Chez Afrique which is a bar/resturaunt owned by the wife of our program director. We had the most amazing food EVER! They made a seperate vegetarian dish just for me which was a tomoato sauce with carrots and green pepper and green beans and curry all over rice YUM! I washed it down with some fresh pineapple juice while we talked with the Aya Center staff. I had so much fun we laughed for hours! Then when dinner was over everyone was forced to dance to the live Highlife band that was playing. We danced and the place ended up being super crowded and everyone was dancing... I had a BLAST :) My face hurt from smilling and laughing so much! We all went home and totally passed out.

Tro Tro!! and other random observations!

This morning we had to be ready at 7am to catch a tro tro (which is a bus van taxi thing) to get to the museums that we were going to tour today. Tro Tros are these vans that they gut the seats our of and put little tiny seats back in to jam as many people as they can into them. We waited at the tro tro stop by our house and split into a couple of groups and waited for a tro tro to come by that was yelling ACCRA ACCRA because thats the station that we needed to get off at. Finally one stopped that could fit all of us on there and we boarded squished all together. I paid the drivers first mate and we were on our way. At one point in time the tro tro stopped to let someone offnd I had to get out to let the person out and the tro tro started driving away and I thought that I was going to be lost forever at this random tro tro stop in the middle of nowhere, but thankfully everyone yelled stop from my group and the driver slowed down while i caught up and jumped into the moving van while the people from my group pulled me back in as it was still in motion. OMG scary as ever... i decided I dont care how far away my intership is im walking!! lol! Then we went to the memorial of the first president of Ghana and the house of W.E.B. DuBouis which were really intersting museums... and we took taxis to get lunch at a pizza place which tasted really great :) We then went to a market place called the culture center... it was kind of an African version of Shipshewanna... it was really fun I want to buy everything! Then we headed to our 2nd twi lesson and here I am now typing on the comuter right after it!!

Random Observations: Almost all of the people here (even the less educated ones) speak aleast 3 languages which I think is amazing since some people back home even struggle with English.
All of the nice house have these big fences with barbed wire on top of them... even our house does. And we have a huge gate at the front of our driveway and a security guard that wont let anyone in but us which is really nice!
I am finally starting to adjust to the time change! :)

I have to go now because the Aya Center is closing but I'm so glad my blogis up to date finally!! YAY! I'll update soon :)

Campus Tour and Twi

We all boarded the bus to go to campus around 10am. Its really close to our house we can even walk there to use the library and post office which is nice. There is also a night market there that we want to go to and then take pictures of Accra at night because the college sits on tp of a huge hill. There is a 3:2 ratio of male to female on the campus and they all live in seperate living blocks. 20,000 students attend the college and there is such an overcrowding that in the dorm rooms that have 2 bunkbeds... they illegally sleep 12!! Ghanians sense of helping others and helping family is so great that they let whoever needs a place tostay on campus live with them. I cant even imagine getting any work done in those conditions. The professors live right on campus with their families in bungalows which i think is a neat idea. The campus is HUGE!!!! It took a really really long time to tour, and everything looks more advances then I imagined. They offer classes in everything that SVSU does and the have masters and doctorate programs in certain areas too. We went to the bookstore and ate at the campus cafeteria. I tried the vergetarian fried rice which was super tasty, and some fried plantains which were super nasty lol! After that we went to our first Twi lesson at the Aya Center and learned grettings/responses and simple questions. We practiced our Twi as we walked back to the house and then all settled down and played some card games together and listened to music. I love how no one watches TV here (even though we only get three channels)! Tomorrow we get to learn how to ride a trotro!!

The First Day in Ghana

Thankfully Ghanians run on my time lol. The bus was like 45 minutes late to pick us all up. The teachers and staff took us to a resturaunt called Fresherz and we all broke bread together and ate. Then they took us to the Aya Center where we will be having our classes and we had our first orientation. Its a pretty small building with a few rooms and its air conditioned which is nice. The weather has been like high 70's low 80's and not too humid :) Dr. WIlliams the program leader talked to us until about noon about the culture, gender, transportation, communication, and money in Accra. After we learned the basics we got to take a tour of Accra which was unreal! In some parts there arte huge houses where rich families and politcal officers live and in the surrounding areas are shacks and market places where people sell their goods next to open gutters... very contrasting... but while on the ride we learned that there are no social welfare programs in Ghana... but there really is no need because there is such a strong sense of family duty that it is expected that people who are more well off can and will provide for the less fortunate members of their family at any time. Their homes are even built with many extra guest rooms and any o their family members can stop by unexpected and they will put them up and get them back on their feet. We got out of the bus at the black star memorial where the president of ghana light the torch on every march 6th to celebrate their independence. Its right on the water and it was a berautiful sight! Back on the bus the traff was crazy as usual... there are no traffic lights or lanes or anything and there are roundabout everywhere! I can't believe taht we have not had an accident yet! I swear weve come mighty close to hitting the people that sell stuff in the roads more than once! We stopped to eat at a resturaunt for lunch, most of the resturaunts in the part of town that we were in are owned by foreign investors and it was packastani... I ordered a papa salad which tasted like lemon onions so i didnt really eat... but thankfully I brought some granola bars for just the occasion. After lunch we went to a very poverty stricken portion of Ghana. Nobody was begging or looked homeless or anything whichreally surprised me but I guess everyone helps everyone and its seen as shameful to beg. The children played and looked really happy and danced to the market music and they all yell OBRUNI!!! when we pass by which means foreigner but not in a derrogatory sense. I wanted to take a million pictures but it is very offensive here to take pic without asking for permission and it was hard from the bus so i will have to go back and take them. THere are wild dogs goats and chickens running all around the markplaces even the one by our house. We stopped at a place that looked like a jail cell and exchanged our money for cedis. Its about 1$ for 1.5 cedis. In 2007 they changed the currency and took all of the zeros off of the bills... it used to be 1$ for 1,5000 cedis lol! We finished our tour by going to see the American Embassy and all of the other parliment and government buildings in Accra. By this time the tour was over and the bus dropped us off by the market place near our house where we bought rice and curry for dinner. I tried some pappaya and mango... lol not a fan! Tomorrow we are going to the University in the morning for a tour and then we have our first language lesson Im so excited!!

Home for now... The first night in Ghana

The hostel that we are living in is very different than I expected. There is a huge porch out in the front and there are lizards and gheckos that love to climb all over the walls. They even come visit us inside sometimes and I try to ignore them because they eat all the bugs lol. I havent been bitten or even seen any mosquitos yet but here there are very tiny... but I have been taking my malaria mediucation so I'll be fine. When you walk into the hostel there is a large living room with big wicker furniture and an old TV that gets a few channels. The walls kind of look like stucko and the floors are tile. There are a ton of doors that lead into rooms and multiple entrances and exits to every room its so confusing! I get lost still every time I try to find my room. There are three boys and 6 girls so the 3 boys share a room and then there are 2 girls in each of the other three bedrooms. The rooms are pretty nice... they have bunkbeds and a closet and a bathroom each. The showers dont have very much water pressure and its freezing cold but I cant imagine taking a warm shower in this heat anyway. The weather has been pretty nice so far. August is Ghanas coldest month so I guess I will probably be complaining about the heat in future blogs! After all of that travel... I have to be up at 6 to get ready for breakfast and our orientation so I'll update later. P.S. Gess hwo mi roomeight is... lol :) and btw shes 52 years old

Flight from London to Ghana

Sick Sick Sick... we had to take busses to the plane and I rode backwards standing up... never a good idea lol. I slept for most of the flight and drank a lot of water. I had an isle seat this time which I foud out I prefer. I finished the 2nd twilight book on the plane :) We flew over the Sahara which was endless and then when we flew over Ghana to get to Accra it was a lightning storm which was scry but awesome to look at. Our flight landed at 8:30pm ghana time and I got in line for customs yet again. After getting through that mess and getting my checked luggage i met up with some other people from the program that I reconized from facebook. I can't beleive my luggage made it ... even though in one of the, my shampoo leaked all over EVERYTHING! It all smells really nice now though. As soon as you enter the Ghana airport there is a large sign that says akwabaa (welcome) but we do not welcome sexual pedophiles or any other sexual micrients so if you are thinking of committing a sexual crime you should go elsewhere... lol i found that really odd. We found our ride and got onto the bus to take us home... we all looked soooo exhausted! Traffic was pretty bad, and there were street vendors walking around in the street dodging cars and selling their wares in between the lanes... it was insane! Though the staff on the bus talked in Twi, all of the signs are in English. We passes the Obama billboard that was in the news and also Hotel Obama. We finally arrived to the place that we would be calling home for the next 4 months!

Flight from D town to London

I really want an English accent now lol! :) I loved listening to them talk. The flight to London wasnt too bad. I was still terribly ill but I was exhasted to I got to sleep for a little while. I passed the time by reading and trying to guess what the people on Everybody Loves Raymond were saying on the screen in front of me because my sound didnt work lol. Dinner was served on the flight... it actually wasnt that bad- it was like stuffed shells and bread and salad. Flying over the ocean was beautiful, and flying over London was interesting- it looks like they drew the land boundary lines with a squiggly ruler compared to the perfect squares of flint and detroit. The flight landed at like 7am London time. Customs was as unpleasant as everbody makes it sound! I waited in the wrong line for 45 minutes... but the customs lady was super nice and direcrted me to terminal 5. I took a mercedes connection flight bus 30 minutes to the other terminal and waited there. Went through customs again... then through security... and after the 2 hours it took to get through those there was no time to go explore London since the airport was pretty far away from all of the attractions. I tried to stay awake so no one would steal my luggage but that was pretty difficut... I drank some starbucks and read a lil. Walking around was not too great of an option because I packed my carryon back far to heavy and my shoulders, back, and neck absolutley killed! I wont be making that mistake again! I had to wait until 2:25pm for my flight to Ghana. It was an eternity!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but finally I boarded the British airways plane for my final destination :)

Flight from Flint to D-town

Sorry for all of the details but I want to remember everything!!!!
Aug 16th Day 1. Everyone woke up and got ready at 4am so that we could leave the house by 6am. I wanted to give myself extra plenty of time for my 10am flight out of flint. Turns out that was extra extra EXTRA plenty of time because i was mistaken and my flight wasnt scheduled until 1:30pm lol! I cant beleive no one double checked me, they all know that i suck at life sometimes lol. The ride to the airport was quite emotional. My lummy drove me and my mom dad ash and amanda drove seperate. We sat at the flint airportfor a while, said our goodbyes, and i crossed the point of no return all by my lonesome. They called my flight and I boarded my first airplane ever! The guy sitting next to me helped me get my luggage that didnt fit in the storage compartment all under my feet lol... it was a very cramped ride to say the least. I was in a window seat and seeing everything as we were flying was breathtaking... flying through the clouds was my favorite. The flight was only like 12 minuites so it wasnt so bad... but I was closterophobic and got very badly motion sick... note to self: sea bands dont work! We landed in D-town and I had to wait until 6:40pm for my next flight... the departure boards werent even that updated yet... so I found a seat and read some books and magazines and munched on some granola bars... that subsided my boredom for about 45 minutes... so I wandered around and looked at all of the different stores and resturaunts trying to pass the time. When my gate was announced I read the map and went through the tunnel underneath the airport. The whole tunnel has like neon lights on the walls that blink and move and moving sidewalks... if the flight didnt make me nauseous this certainly did lol! I'm getting sick just typing about it! I waited for another eternity for my flight to London.

I made it safe :) but theres not time to write so I'll update everyone as soon as I can!
