Saturday

Saturday we didn’t really do much of anything, I slept during the day because I stayed up most of the night reading and trying not to swallow small animals lol. There is a funeral party going on outside which played really loud music starting at 5am this morning. Funerals are really big celebrations here that last for days and days. My roommate went to a funeral and said it was a crazy experience. They set up the dead guy in a chair and made him look like he was alive and left him in the hot son so it smelled like rotting flesh and she almost lost it a couple of times. But the dancing ceremonies were amazing and we got to watch videos of the rituals minus the smell when she got home which was really interesting. Anyway… we ventured to the campus and went to the night market and looked around at all the stuff there. I got some more starfruit because its super tasty! And I also got some more bread and ground nut since I basically live off of that for breakfast everyday. We discovered a store on campus that sells frozen milk which is like the ghanian version of icecream. Thank goodness the campus is pretty far away because its really addicting and I’m pretty sure if it was for sale right outside our house I would eat it every day lol. Then we tried to find an ATM because a few of us were running low on money. It took quite a while and was a pretty far walk but we finally found one outside of a gas station up the road from the campus. I also decided to do some laundry when we got home… we fill up buckets with soap and water and swish our clothes around in them and rinse them out then hang them up to dry basically lol. It takes a really long time though and it doesn’t seem to really clean them and they always turn out really wrinkly lol but we do our best J Saturday night we were all together and started looking at a Ghana travel guide book that someone had brought. We’ve planned a trip to Mole National Park which is a safari thing with a bunch of elephants and lions and giraffes and we just pay for a tour guide (that carries a big gun lol) and we get to walk around with all the animals I cant wait!
